What is your style of wedding photography?
Relaxed and natural, candid and creative.
You look your best when you're being yourself so relax and enjoy your joyous day! We capture your day as it naturally unfolds but still cater for the more posed photographs like the group shots.

Can we meet the photographer before our special day?
Yes! We definitely recommend meeting in person to discuss what you want from your wedding photography, present our folio and to ensure our approach is right for you. If you're comfortable with Illy Photography it means you'll be more relaxed in front of the camera on the big day. An engagement shoot is a great way for us to get to know each other.

What are your credentials?
Ilona completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts, major in photography with distinction, in 1998 and has been exhibiting her personal work since then. Illy Photography was born after photographing a friend's wedding in 2004.

Will the photographic equipment be intrusive?
We prefer to be unobtrusive and move around freely to capture those candid moments, so we use natural lighting as much as possible during the ceremony. Usually some flash is used for the formal portraits.

Do we keep the digital negatives?
Yes, we provide you with high and low resolution photographs so you can upload, print and share as you please.

What about film?
I absolutely love film but unfortunately ALL TYPES of film contain gelatine which is derived from the bone and skin of animals. I am a vegetarian and avoid products that contain animals - Ilona. (if you find a gelatine free film please let me know!!)

How many photographs do you take?
We take a lot of photographs on the day and edit it down to 300+ on average.

How long after the wedding will our photographs be ready?
Your photographs will be processed and completed six weeks after your wedding date. Albums and enlargements take a little longer.

Is Illy Photography eco friendly?
Yes! We print our photographs on Hahnemuhle bamboo paper which gives you beautiful warm and rich prints. For presentation we have sourced handmade recycled timber frames, blockmounts made from sustainably harvested wood, paper free enlargements made from stone and reclaimed timber, sustainable timber personalised albums, and hand bound albums printed on tree free paper with covers in hemp or peace silk. How does Illy Photography give back?
We donate 1% of profits to charity and proudly support the following organisations;
World Wildlife Foundation, Royal Children's Hospital (Melbourne), Planet Ark, St Vincent de Paul Society and the Cancer Council. You can elect who your donation is made to or Illy Photography will distribute funds to all the chosen charities evenly.

How much does it cost?
We believe it's important to cater to all budgets. We offer a menu of options for you to choose from so you can design your photography package to suit your needs and preferences. The most popular Illy option is $3,200 and includes the following;
~ Pre and post wedding consultations
To discuss your photography needs, portraiture concepts and presentation options for your photography
~ 5 hours wedding photography
We'll cover the bride's venue, ceremony, family group shots and the bridal party formal shots. This usually takes about 5 hours but don't worry, we won't run away if it takes a little longer
~ 300+ individually processed photographs
You will receive a mixture of clolour and black and white images
~ Digital negatives
Your photographs will be available to download at high and low resolutions, or presented to you on a USB key if you prefer
~ Travel within 60km radius of Melbourne CBD and Bendigo CBD

~ Location scouting
If we're unfamiliar with your venue we'll scout out some locations for sunny and rainy weather so we're prepared. This also helps us put together a rough timeline for your day

What is a Trash the Dress portraiture session?
A Trash the Dress portraiture session gives you another opportunity to wear your beautiful wedding dress and capture some fun photographs in a less formal setting like at an amusement park, op shopping or catching the train. We don't actually harm your dress but if you're up for climbing a tree or jumping in the ocean we won't stop you!

What is your payment policy?
We request a $500 deposit and once it has been received your date is reserved. The balance is due one month before your wedding, and the deposit is deducted from the balance of the wedding photography package you have chosen.

Who owns the copyright?
Put simply, you own the copyright for personal use and Illy Photography owns it for commercial use. If a third party (venue, caterer etc) wants to use some of your images please ask them to contact us.
